About Virtute Labore
What kind of leader do you intend to become?
Most leaders can remember someone they admired: a leader who listened, told them the truth, challenged them, believed in them, went to bat for them. At some point, every leader has to decide: will the people they lead remember them that way?
Organizations invest heavily in leadership programs. Presentations happen. Frameworks are introduced. Then everyone goes back to work, and the same struggles to listen, trust, and hold each other accountable remain.
Virtute Labore exists to offer something different: leadership development that doesn't end when the session ends. We help leaders close the distance between the leader they are today and the leader they intend to become.
We're not interested in activity for the sake of activity. We're interested in what changes.
The Meaning Behind the Name
Work is good.
Virtute Labore reflects a belief at the foundation of the firm: work has dignity, regardless of title, position, or task. There is virtue in doing it well, and a hard day's work can produce more than an economic result. It can develop character, serve another person, and build something worthwhile.
The name is grounded in a Christian understanding that work is good and that leadership is stewardship. People are not simply resources to be optimized. They are people entrusted to leaders. That responsibility should shape how leaders listen, communicate, develop, challenge, support, and care for those they lead.
We proudly serve leaders and organizations of every background while remaining grounded in the convictions the firm was founded on.
Character to Lead. Discipline to Deliver.
Twenty years of notes before a single slide.

Carlos Saez
Founder & Managing PartnerFor more than two decades, Carlos has worked inside complex organizations where leadership, people, customer experience, technology, and business performance intersect. His career repeatedly placed him in environments where teams were operating in silos, leaders weren't aligned, and execution had slowed. His strength is bringing people to the table, listening to understand what's actually happening, and helping leaders build the structure required to move forward.
But his interest in leadership development came from another observation. After years of sitting through leadership programs, workshops, and presentations delivered by respected organizations and firms, the pattern was often the same:
The material sounded good. The presentation ended. Monday came. And very little changed.
Virtute Labore was created to change that.
Prior Operating Experience
Across two decades leading teams inside large, complex organizations, Carlos led efficiency and synergy initiatives that contributed to more than $20 million in cumulative realized savings. That experience was earned before founding Virtute Labore.

A Leadership Example from Carlos's Prior Employment
Investigate before you prescribe training.
Situation: One team in a global service desk was underperforming.
Role: Carlos led five managers and investigated the situation personally.
Observation: Comparing struggling and stronger teams suggested that seating and peer distraction contributed to the problem.
Action: He changed seating arrangements to place struggling agents among stronger peers.
Reported result: Improvement began within two weeks, and the team reached its targets after approximately six months.
Limit: This is a retrospective account, not a controlled study. The seating change was not necessarily the only cause.
The lesson is that effective managers investigate before prescribing training or blaming people.
Good leaders dare to be different. Leadership isn't about authority. It's about responsibility.
Our Leadership Philosophy
What we believe about leading people.
Listen first.
A leader should listen with the intent to understand, not simply wait for a chance to answer.
Know your people.
People want to be known as more than a role, title, or performance number.
Build trust before you need it.
Trust gives leaders the ability to tell difficult truths without destroying relationships.
Go to bat for your people.
Leadership means developing, advocating for, challenging, and supporting those entrusted to you.
Create accountability.
Caring about people and expecting excellence are not opposing ideas. Great leaders do both.
Dare to lead differently.
"This is how we've always done it" is not a leadership philosophy. Leadership requires courage, not simply competence.

Attendance is not the outcome.
- Are leaders listening differently?
- Is trust improving?
- Are difficult conversations happening sooner?
- Is accountability becoming clearer?
If the answer is yes, we've done our job.
